The purpose of the internship showcase is to let other students on campus know about the phenomenal experiences available to them through interning and to get them interested and excited about participating in an internship. All participants must complete the internship application, including a summary of the internship experience and how the participant will attract the attention of other students with their display table. After submitting the application, selected entrants will be expected to prepare a table display for an open house to be held on Friday, April 2, 2010 in the WSC Central Ballroom. Participants will be provided with a 6’ table in a booth with a tablecloth, and each booth will have access to electrical outlets. The display could consist of photographs, posters, collateral material, video/computer presentations, cultural items, journals, company logos, artwork, notebooks/info binders, etc. Each applicant is responsible for providing their own media materials (i.e. computers, projectors, posters). More details about the display portion of the contest including examples of past displays can be found online at www.byu.edu/intern. Application does not guarantee participation in the display portion. You will receive an email by Friday, March 12th, 2010 if you are selected to participate.
The Internship Fair will be on Friday, April 2, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You are not required to be present for the entire period; however, judging will be between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm and your score may be affected if your booth is judged while you aren’t present. Before you apply make sure you are going to be available on the day of the display contest. Winners will be announced and presented at 1:00 p.m. The grand prize is $750.00, with a $250 prize and a $100 runner-up prize for each of the following categories: most creative display, most informative display, most motivational display, most unique internship, most influential internship, most culturally enriching internship. Additionally there will be a $250 prize for the people's choice award. All non-winning display participants will receive a $50 gift card to the BYU Bookstore.
Eligible participants include all current BYU students who have completed or are currently completing an internship, clinical, practicum, student teaching, field study, service learning, or other applied learning experience during their BYU education. Participants may elect to do joint booths if the participants were/are working on the same project at the same internship. Participants may present a joint booth with another intern from their same internship; however, there is a limit of two contestants per booth and all prizes will be split between joint-booth participants (including the BYU gift card).
The application deadline is Friday, March 5, 2010 by the end of the day. Submit your application by following the link below.
The Internship Advisory Committee will score the displays to determine the winners the day of the event from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. All decisions of the Advisory Committee are final.
